Informa's finance director has quit just days after the business publisher and events organiser gained control of research group Datamonitor in a £502m deal.
Tony Foye, 44, who earned £631,000 last year, has resigned to "seek new opportunities outside the group", Informa said.
He has been finance director at Informa since its acquisition of academic publisher Taylor & Francis in May 2004, having previously held the same position there.
He was recruited by T&F in 1987. Since joining Informa, Mr Foye has played a key role in its £768m acquisition of events group IIR and the purchase of Datamonitor, and the City was shocked by his departure.
Informa shares fell 17½ to 584½p.
Paul Richards, a Numis Securities analyst, said: "It is a surprise. The City never likes to see someone of that calibre go, but there's no evidence of any animosity or disagreement over strategy." read more....
